But once a year over 10,000 people show up here and turn our four miles of beach into an amazing place for three days of sandcastle building, people watching, food, music and fun!

Friday kicks off with an opening night mixer that's open to all! Saturday is sure to impress as we'll have master builder teams competing for prize money right under the shadow of Haystack Rock along with up to 50 individual "plots" for entrants to "work their magic." Relax Saturday night at a bonfire on the beach. Stick around until Sunday morning for an awesome fun run right on the beach.

Plein air is a term derived from the French expression “en plein air”, meaning “in the open air” and specifically refers to the asct of painting outdoors.

Cannon Beach’s popular “Plein Air & More” is a three day event which includes our Friday night “meet & greet” with the participating artists and gallery owners, along with a collaborative show of art work.

Saturday and Sunday, more than four dozen artists, represented by Cannon Beach’s art galleries will be creating works of art on location throughout the town and on the beach. Many will work in the traditional method of plein aire painting, while others will sculpt, create and photograph in their own unique styles. Individual galleries will display the finished works along with hosting receptions for the artists Saturday and Sunday.
